| He may have been known as Ralph. Private John Ralph served in the CEF with the 166th Batallion. We know that he embarked at Halifax on either the S. S. Olympic with 19 officers & 485 Other Ranks on Oct 12th, 1916 or on Oct 17th on board the S. S. Cameronia with 14 Officers and 374 Other Ranks. His Regimental number was 669519. He lived with his Dad until 1923 when he moves to 253 Davisville. He is described at this time as a"Coach" or "Auto Painter." In 1926, he is working at CNR as a Painter. In 1936, he lives at 137 Benson and is a Painter still. In 1940 he is a "painter decorator" and lived at 59 Melville. In 1942 he moved into his home at 57 Thurston where he lived for the next 23 years. In 1961, two years before his death, he is "pntr" at RW Murray, bit I think this abbreviaton stands for printer. He died Saturday, March 30, 1963 at his daughter's home at 173 Broadlands Ave in Don Mills although he lived at 57 Thurston Rd - not so far from his dad's Balliol home of some 45 years. |
