| The baptismal record tells us that Ralph was a "coachman" in 1844, a job following his being pensioned off the year before, July 11, 1843. And that he is a resident of "Beauport." William and Elizabeth Clark were, again, the godparents. The christening was conducted by the "Incumbent of the Chapel of the Holy Trinity." Must be in the Anglican Cathedral. I can't make out his name it's E.H. possibly and the last name is maybe Burk. William is definitely a resident of Toronto in 1861 and is listed as an apprentice iving with his borther John, in Yorkville Village. There is a "William Clewes, Porter, Sick Childrens' Hospital, bds at 90 Jarvis" in 1889 which would make William 45 years old but it could also be William Dixon Clewes then 18, the son of John H. |
